The McCathy systems cater for all operation aspects of tile manufacturing from the input of raw materials, extrusion, colouring through to the storage of the finished tiles in the stockyard. The investor can select a low cost start-up package with 1,000 tiles per shift or proceed directly to produce the desired quantity. MANUFACTURE The manufacturing process is simple with system from McCathy. The concrete is first produced by a cement mixer. It is then discharged into a tile extrusion machine manually or via a conveyor system. The concrete is then extruded onto the top surface of an aluminium pallet that is driven through the machine. The pallet not only shapes the underside profile of the tile but also support the wet tile through the curing process. The wet tile is automatically cut to length as it exits the extrusion machine. The freshly made tile is then colour coated with one or two colour manually or by colour applicator machines. A clear coat of acrylic sealant is applied before the tile is placed into steel rack for curing. The tiles will remain in the racks overnight until they reach their required strength. The next day, the dry tiles are conveyed to a depalleting machine which separates the tile from the aliminium pallet. The pallets are re-used and tiles are stacked in the stockyard by a forklift truck or the like. They are subsequently loaded onto trucks for delivery to buildling site.

The systems available range from a simple low output plant through to a sophisticated high output fully automatic plant. TILES PROFILES Katz McCathy Pte Ltd offers their customers a selection from a large range of international tile profiles. The tile designs are well proven and can be produced on any of the different “McCathy” production systems. All tiles are double interlocking types and conform to the various international standards including European Standard BS EN490 – Product Specification, and BS EN491 – Test Methods. In addition, we offer a customized special tile design service to clients requiring trim tiles to suit their specific needs. SPECIAL TILE MANUFACTURE The process for manufacturing special trim tiles is similar to that for main tile production, albeit on a smaller scale. A concrete mix is used to form the tile on a mould which will cure overnight prior to separation.All special trim tiles can be produced in colours and finishes to match the main tiles being produced. When submitting proposals for complete systems, we make recommendations as to the most suitable special tile manufacturing equipment required, taking account of the overall tile output. Our special tile manufacturing equipment can range from the supply of a simple manually operated bench equipped with a small quantity of moulds, through to a fully automated tile extrusion machine. Existing special tile manufacturers wishing to modernize or expand their present facility are offered a selection from an extensive range of plant and machinery that can cater for special tile production ranging from 2 through to 40 tiles per minute.
